Important Billing Address

The billing address is an ubiquitous fact required to be filled out in any credit application. Though one may provide generic descriptions, it is better that one provides a real address for the application. Here are the reasons why the address is so very important for the approval or disapproval of a credit application.
1) The address is for credit background checks
Credit background checks are not only about the credit report. A physical determination of the address is but proper due diligence review by a credit card company for its prospective clients. This also determines if the prospective cardholder has the sufficient assets to cover the debts. Providing a fictitious address may serve as basis for an attempt at larceny, which is a criminal offense in many states.
2) The address is for billing purposes
Credit cards, as a matter of proper business protocol and legal mandate, require that billings are to be sent to a particular address. This is the manner that a credit cardholder is informed of the charges made on the card and the notice that payment must be made. So at the receipt of the billing documents at the billing address, this serves as a demandable payment requirement.
3) The address is for mailing purposes
If the business relationship turns sour, the billing address may also stand as the address where legal process is to be served when the matter goes to court. Or if the business relationship is all rosy, then the business address would be the recipient address for any gifts or rebates earned on the use of the card. The documents are to be sent to the given address and upon reaching the address, this means notice has been served.
